I have over 14 years’ experience working in the arts, in various roles and capacities; specialising in devising and directing film and theatre productions with and for Young People, I have seen first hand the arts ability to change lives for both participants and spectators and aim to keep this alive in all my work.
My work is ensemble-driven and process focused; I strive to create open, supportive and fun rehearsal environments which allow performers and creatives to freely express themselves and safely fail, creating meaningful and powerful results.
I wish to tell the best stories with honesty and truth at there heart, no matter how hard the subject or critical the outcome, creating work in partnership with others and transporting audiences.
Over the years I have developed a style of physical, narrative-driven storytelling that underlines most of my work. I have devised, adapted and written a number of original productions, produced and directed dozens more and penned lyrics for over 40 songs. I have also designed the sets, sound, and video for a number of productions and have worked as a professional stage manager for various companies.
Between 2009 and 2017 I worked at The Point and Berry Theatre’s growing and developing their youth theatre and outreach programme creating large-scale education programmes working with disengaged and hard to reach people as well as organising festivals and programming work. As a senior manager for both venues, I have experience of running complex multi-arts venues.
As well as a freelance theatre maker and arts facilitator I am also Artistic Director of 404 Productions a collective of creatives working on making theatre and film productions that give young people an opportunity to work alongside professional artists.
